Kreate renewed the waterproofing of the Mustionjoki railway bridge and carried out related works at Åminnefors in Raasepori. The site was located on the busy Helsinki-Turku coastal railway line.
The project included the demolition of the existing track superstructure and the superstructure of the bridge, which is about 300 metres long, the waterproofing of the bridge deck and the construction of a new track for a total length of about 400 metres. In addition, we installed steel service gangways on both sides of the bridge and upgraded and extended the track drainage structures. We were working on the Mustionjoki on a challenging schedule, with most of the work being carried out during the five-week rail traffic disruption after Midsummer.
We promote the circular economy as much as possible on our construction sites – for example, in this project, we used old railway rubble and recycled old azobe sleepers.
The contractor was the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, and the contract period was 6-11/2024.
