M.Sc. (Eng) Kenneth Wahlqvist, who has had a long career in leading large construction projects and businesses in Sweden, has been appointed CEO of Kreate Sverige. He will start in his position on 1.4.2025. The current CEO, Veli Taatila, will remain with the company and transition as planned to the Rock Engineering Business unit.
“We are systematically advancing along our growth path in Sweden. Veli has done an excellent job in growing the company into a stronger player locally and a geographic contributor to the Kreate Group. Kenneth brings strong experience in a broader range of infrastructure construction, managing mega-scale projects and infrastructure business. We are in an excellent position to continue the profitable growth of our business in Sweden, says Timo Vikström, CEO of Kreate Group.
“In Sweden, we have a strong spirit of entrepreneurship and professional personnel implementing technically demanding projects. Under Kenneth’s leadership, we are determined to proceed to the next phase of growth. I warmly welcome him to the company, says Taatila.
“It’s inspiring to be able to lead a company with strong and profitable growth targets and an ambitious focus on the right things. At Kreate, I was particularly drawn to agile decision-making processes and the focus on personnel and high-quality project execution. Thanks to the high level of technical expertise, the professionalism of the personnel and a family-like atmosphere, the starting points for growth are excellent, says Wahlqvist, the future CEO of Kreate Sverige, about his first impressions of the company.
New CEO ensures expansion geographically and into new types of construction
Kreate Sverige aims to achieve an annual revenue of SEK 650 million by the end of the 2024–2027 strategy period. Geographical expansion, entry into new types of civil construction, and transitioning from a subcontractor to a main contractor all contribute to achieving the revenue growth target.
“I have strong experience in infrastructure built above ground, such as concrete, foundation and earthworks, as well as an extensive network of contacts, which supports Kreate Sverige’s expansion goals into new construction disciplines. We are a very strong player in rock and tunnel construction in the Stockholm area. In addition to new types of construction, we also establish our functions on the west coast of Sweden in the Gothenburg area, Wahlqvist confirms.
In 2025 Kreate expects the demanding infrastructure construction market to develop favourably in Sweden, which is approximately twice as large as Finland.
“In line with Kreate Group’s operational model, we are also focusing on delivering high-quality projects in Sweden that generate the greatest value for both us and our customers,” Wahlqvist says.
