Kreate, a specialist in demanding infrastructure construction, and QTS, a leading provider of data centre and AI infrastructure, have signed a contract for the earthworks for a new data centre campus in Forssa. The agreement strengthens Kreate’s position in the growing data centre market, where the company has completed nearly 70 contracts over the past ten years.

QTS is currently developing a 150-hectare data centre campus in Forssa, which will be built in phases over several years. This is the company’s first data centre project to commence in Finland. In the project, QTS places particular emphasis on working with experienced and highly skilled contractors with strong local knowledge.

– We are delighted to partner with Kreate on our Forssa project, supporting local employment and expertise through collaboration with Finnish contractors on this critical package of works, says Simon Caron, Vice President of Development, Europe at QTS.

Over the past ten years, Kreate has completed approximately 70 infrastructure contracts across several data centre projects, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, environmentally sustainable solutions and operational reliability.

– Data centre construction is an important growth market for Kreate, where our broad infrastructure expertise can be put to excellent use. For its first data centre project to commence in Finland, QTS has sought experienced partners who combine strong technical expertise with a thorough understanding of local conditions and ways of working. We are delighted by the trust placed in us and by the opportunity to bring our extensive experience in demanding data centre projects to this significant development, says Timo Vikström, President and CEO of Kreate Group.

QTS also sets high standards for its partners in sustainability matters, particularly in relation to social responsibility. QTS also places importance on communicating openly and transparently about its projects. For Kreate, this provides an opportunity to showcase its data centre construction expertise publicly through a specific project for the first time, despite the company’s extensive track record in data centre projects.

Construction to begin in October 2026

Data centre projects are typically characterised by large volumes, stringent quality requirements and tight schedules. Kreate’s earthworks in Forssa will begin in October 2026, with the intensive construction phase lasting approximately seven months.

– Data centre contracts typically operate to very tight schedules. In Forssa, for example, we have around seven months to move million cubicmeters of earth. With large volumes and a tight schedule, production planning, logistics and collaboration between all parties must work seamlessly, says Juha Schönberg, EVP, Transport Infrastructure Construction at Kreate.

The Forssa project continues Kreate’s strong track record in data centre construction and supports the company’s growth in expanding markets for demanding infrastructure construction.
