Kreate strengthens its position as a tunnel outfitter in Sweden: new SEK 144 million contract signed

Kreate Sverige and Trafikverket have signed a contract for the outfitting of the Lovö tunnels, part of the extensive Stockholm bypass project. The contract, which begins immediately, is valued at approximately SEK 144 million, or around EUR 13 million, and has been included in Kreate’s order backlog for the second quarter. In terms of value, it is the largest contract in Kreate Sverige’s history.

The Stockholm bypass, Förbifart Stockholm E4, is part of Stockholm’s outer ring road. The massive 21-kilometer project is being constructed in phases, with as much as 18 kilometers of the road built in tunnels to protect environmental and cultural values.

The contract for the FSE352 outfitting works of the Lovö tunnel, which Kreate Sverige won as part of the Stockholm bypass project, amounts to approximately SEK 144 million, or about EUR 13 million. The scope includes completing work initiated by the previous contractor, such as bolting, installing membranes and reinforcement, placing precast wall elements, and shotcreting.

– This new contract shows that Kreate is a reliable tunnel outfitter and renovator, and that we are capable of taking responsibility in special situations and finding the best solutions for the client as well. Tunnel outfitting is our core expertise, and we carry out our work in a way that further strengthens our reputation as a competitive, skilled, and reliable operator,” says Kenneth Wahlqvist, CEO of Kreate Sverige.

Kreate is currently carrying out similar works on three ramps at Lovö, which are part of a previously awarded contract. Prior to this, Kreate installed tunnel linings as a subcontractor to the previous main contractor. To date, Kreate Sverige has been involved in all but one of the Lovö tunnel contracts.

– We have worked systematically to strengthen our Swedish organization and expand the range of construction services and contract sizes we handle, and now that effort is bearing fruit. In true Swedish fashion, one could say this new contract fits our strategy like jam on a pancake,” confirms Timo Vikström, CEO of Kreate Group. Construction of the Stockholm bypass began in 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2030. The works under the newly signed contract will start immediately and are scheduled for completion in March 2026. Kreate has included the EUR 13 million contract in its order backlog for the second quarter.
