The renewal project of the Vähä-Säkylä intersection bridge near the centre of Säkylä is progressing so that our bridge specialists will demolish the current dilapidated bridge in May 2025. After that, the foundation work for the new bridge will begin – the new bridge will be founded on drilled piles. The piling work will be carried out by KFS Finland Oy, a joint venture specialising in special foundation construction.

The new bridge is a prestressed continuous concrete beam bridge, approximately 65 metres long and 13 metres wide. The bridge deck will be cast in September. The new bridge, about 20 metres longer than its predecessor, will be opened to traffic by the end of November 2025.

During the demolition work, traffic will be directed to a detour, and pedestrians will use an overpass next to the intersection bridge to bypass the construction site. The overpass bridge will be dismantled later in the project, and in the future, both vehicles and pedestrian traffic will use the same bridge.

The construction site is located on Rantatie (regional road 12691), which leads to the centre of Säkylä and crosses Säkyläntie (regional road 204), the main thoroughfare in the area.

The project is commissioned by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and Environment of Southwest Finland (ELY Centre), and the contract period is from April 2025 to June 2026.
