Foundation builders and engineers from Kreate will construct new canopy structures for the Pihkala stadium in order to cover all 1,500 seats in the stadium. The contract also contains refurbishing and repairing the old structures of the stands and canopy. At the same time, we perform earthmoving and foundation work as well as implement public utilities, greenery planting and surface structures.
The construction project for this Finnish baseball field – also known as the sanctum of the sport in Southern Finland – starts with constructing the foundations. We are installing the massive steel frame for the canopy, weighing approximately 125 tonnes, on column footing in January 2024. Technical challenges are posed by fitting together the new canopy with the existing one that covers 400 seats. We will repair the old structures by, for example, replacing the damaged steel columns of the current canopy and renewing the seams on the element slabs.
At our worksites, we promote the reuse and recycling of materials. On this home field for the Hyvinkään Tahko team, this is achieved by utilising excavated soil on site as effectively as possible, which results in cost savings and reduces the carbon footprint of the construction work.
The value of this contract commissioned by the City of Hyvinkää is in excess of EUR 1.5 million and the contract schedule is from 10/2023 to 4/2024.
