HELEN’S EIRANRANTA HEAT PUMP PLANT ABOVE-GROUND FOUNDATION AND CONSTRUCTION WORK IN HELSINKI

Kreate’s demanding foundation construction contracts at Helen Oy’s new heat pump plant site have expanded: Our professionals are now responsible for the foundation work and construction of the above-ground building of the wastewater pumping station, as well as the casting of the wastewater basin walls.

Following successful collaboration on the challenging foundation and concrete construction tasks for Helen Oy’s new production facility, we have transitioned from the foundation and floor casting of equipment located 40 metres below ground in the heat pump plant hall, along the various other tasks performed in the underground cavern, to the above-ground work.

In the above-ground contract, we are responsible for the foundations of the wastewater pumping station building, installation of precast elements, façade masonry, installation of the window wall, and casting of the walls of the 10-metre-deep wastewater basin located inside the building.

The project presents challenges that require specialized expertise, including foundation work around a 50-metre-deep vertical shaft extending to the underground hall space. Our professionals are already familiar with this shaft, having previously performed rock bolt reinforcement, rock stabilization work, and prior expansion excavations.

Kreate’s portion of the contract is scheduled for completion in summer 2025. The Eiranranta heat pump plant, which will produce carbon-neutral district heating and district cooling, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
