We built a new pedestrian and bicycle traffic bridge over the Nilonjoki River on the Road 5 in Kuusamo. The bridge is 43 metres long and was built next to the existing Nilonniska bridge.
The high-voltage power line crossing the site added its own challenges to the project, including the foundation phase of the bridge. The special foundation construction on the inclined piles was carried out by KFS Finland, a company jointly owned by Kreate.
The Nilonniska pedestrian and bicycle traffic bridge is part of the City of Kuusamo’s project to improve pedestrian and cycling connections between Ruostesuo, Torang, Torangingaho and Nilokangas. The new bridge, as part of the new traffic routes, will also provide safer transport for young students in the area and will improve commuter traffic in the industrial area and the Raja area, among others.
The contractor was the City of Kuusamo and the contract period was 5-12/2024.
At the same time, our yellow-black time was building another bridge just four kilometres away. The Torang bridge on Highway 20 was completed in October 2024.
