Kreate’s professionals in foundation and engineering construction carried out a contract in which the underground changing rooms of the staff at Meilahti Hospital in Helsinki were renovated. In addition to dismantling the old concrete structures, the contract included compacting and strengthening the rock structures of the staff facilities.
The staff changing rooms are located 15 metres below ground level in a shelter built into the rock. Our expertise was highlighted in this demanding and contract implemented completely underground, where we worked in tight tunnel spaces with large machines while doing multi-stage demolition and rock construction work at the same time. Simultaneous work phases included the dismantling of light internal wall structures and heavy concrete structures; demolition of the base slab and drains; scaling and safety strengthening of rock surfaces; and rock grouting and strengthening work.
The customer for the contract was HUS Kiinteistöt Oy, and the contract time was from July 2022 to April 2023.
