The contract was carried out by Kreate’s foundation and engineering construction unit in cooperation with KFS Finland’s bore piling unit. In the contract, the old quay was renovated and expanded. The renovation works included the demolition of the old quay structures; the construction of a new sheet pile wall around the quay; the installation of anchoring elements; and bore piling. In addition, a 1/5 extension was made as a continuation of the old quay. An edge slab was cast on top of the new sheet pile wall, half above water.

In this interesting project, water was nearby and affected many work phases as well as safety. Several work steps had to be done underwater, and the fluctuation in the sea level brought its own challenges to the work. Dismantling the old support structures to make way for the new ones was also challenging because there were no precise plans for the old structure. Special attention was paid to both the disassembly sequence and the installation of the anchors.

The contract implementation time was from May 2020 to September 2020.
