Kreate built, among other things, the Kausela-Pukkila section into four lanes; improved the Kausela flyover junction; repaired and replaced waterway bridges on River Aurajoki; and did improvement work on Highway 10 between the ring road and Kaarinantie.
The implementation of the second phase of the E18 Turku ring road required solid technical know-how and efficient scheduling. Problem-solving ability was required especially with regard to the ground conditions and busy traffic. For example, the traffic volumes on Highway 10 were up to 30,000 cars per day.
Challenging ground conditions were encountered especially during the construction of the underpasses and the Aurajoki waterway bridges. Deep trenches were made in the clay-heavy soil in the immediate vicinity of busy thoroughfares, which is why Kreate paid special attention to things such as supporting the trenches and groundwater management.
The second phase of the project started in July 2020 with preparatory work, and construction started in July 2020.
The value of the contract was 35 million euros. The customer was the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, which implemented the project in cooperation with the Municipality of Lieto and the City of Kaarina.
