We are renovating the Kalattomantie overpass in Outokumpu

Kreate’s bridge builders are working in Outokumpu, where we are renovating the Kalattomantie overpass. We are replacing the old weight-restricted bridge with a concrete slab bridge, which will streamline traffic across the Siilinjärvi–Viinijärvi railway line.

In the bridge project, we will demolish the old Kalattomantie overpass and build a new concrete slab bridge in its place. The project, located in Outokumpu, is made more challenging by the fact that the bridge crosses the Siilinjärvi–Viinijärvi railway line.

The old bridge is a reinforced concrete continuous sloping slab bridge completed in 1970, which has a weight restriction due to its poor condition. The construction of the new bridge will improve traffic flow on Kalattomantie and in the surrounding area. The bridge piling will be carried out by the specialist foundation builders at Kreate’s joint venture KFS Finland Oy. The bridge deck will be cast in August 2025 and the new bridge will be opened to traffic in October 2025.

We promote the circular economy as much as possible at our construction sites – in this project, we are utilizing, among other things, concrete rubble from the demolition of the old bridge in road structures and embankment fillings.

The contract period is 6–10/2025, and the clients are the City of Outokumpu and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.
