NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT FOR THE MUNICIPALITY OF TOHMAJÄRVI

Kreate will build a new wastewater treatment plant for the municipality of Tohmajärvi, where we will cast watertight basins on site and build a separate control building. The contract also includes excavation work and piping work outside the treatment plant, as well as frame and water-roof work, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in the process buildings. The new treatment plant will be sized for the wastewater of the 3000 inhabitants in the area, as is the case today.

Our professionals have strong experience from similar projects, and work started in Tohmajärvi in March 2025. The project will proceed in such a way that the existing wastewater treatment plant on the same site will remain in operation throughout the construction. Towards the end of 2026, the plant will enter trial operation, during which time production from the plant, which has been in operation for almost 50 years, will be smoothly transferred to the new treatment plant.

The contractor is the municipality of Tohmajärvi, the contract period is 3/2025-12/2026 and the contract amount is approximately 5,1 million euros.
