By constructing streets and water supply systems in the Ritaportti area, we are creating the conditions for a new business hub in Oulu

In the Ritaportti project Kreate is building the streets and water supply system for the new Ritaportti area in Oulu. In this project, located in the Herukka, Pateniemi, and Ritaharju districts, we are building a total of approximately 4.8 kilometers of new streets and light traffic lanes, as well as a water supply network and stormwater structures totaling approximately 15,000 meters of piping.

Ritaportti has been designed to be an easily accessible area, which is reflected not only in the lanes being built for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists, but also in the new Ritakierros intersection bridge. It consists of two bridges under Highway 4, connecting the Ritaharju and Pateniemi districts. The project also includes widening the Erkkilä underpass on Raitotie and improving Raitotie at the railway underpass.

We launched the project in early July 2025, when we began removing topsoil in the contract area and constructing the water supply network and Ritaportintie road. Construction of the bridge will begin in early 2026. Vehicle traffic will be diverted to a detour on the west side of the motorway for the duration of the bridge construction, i.e. for approximately eight months.

The project will create the conditions for a business hub that will include a diverse range of commercial, office, and industrial buildings, as well as sports and recreational services. Successful work planning and strong expertise in various types of construction in the vicinity of busy road sections will ensure the success of the project. A good example of this is the Poikkimaantie improvement project we carried out on the opposite side of Oulu, which we completed almost a year ahead of the original schedule.

In addition to the City of Oulu, the contracting parties include Oulun vesi and the North Ostrobothnia Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. The project will be completed in November 2026. The contract value of approximately EUR 11 million will be recorded in Kreate’s second quarter order book.
