Renovation of the Joksholma bridge on National Road 8

Our bridge professionals are working in Pedersöre, where we are renovating the Joksholma bridge over Ähtävänjoki. The structure located on National Road 8 is a reinforced concrete box girder bridge built in the 1960s, which we are replacing with a prestressed concrete cantilever bridge. The new bridge is 43 metres long and 11 metres wide.

The project includes the design, construction, and demolition of a detour and a detour bridge, the demolition of the old bridge and construction of a new bridge, and the construction of pile slabs. We are working on a busy coastal main route with a tight schedule, considering both the challenging ice conditions on Ähtävänjoki and the fish spawning season.

Vehicle traffic will be diverted to a detour and a temporary bridge during spring 2026, and the traffic arrangements will remain in place until November 2026. Pedestrians and cyclists will use the existing passageway throughout the project.

The client is Etelä-Pohjanmaan Elinvoimakeskus (Economic Development Centre of South Ostrobothnia), and the contract period is 1–11/2026.
